The managing partner of leading national law firm Irwin Mitchell has hailed the company’s impressive performance as 18 of its legal teams improved their ranking in the latest Legal 500 tables released today.

Teams from six of the firm's UK offices, and from both its Personal Injury and Business and Private Client practice areas, saw their position improve in the annual rankings, which also listed Irwin Mitchell as the leading provider in a host of other legal services.

Irwin Mitchell was ranked number one for Personal Injury in Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, London, Glasgow and Newcastle. The firm was also top in Clinical Negligence in the regions.

The family team clinched the top spot in both Birmingham and Sheffield. Irwin Mitchell was also awarded the highest rank in Sheffield for Crime, Fraud and Licensing and Employment. The debt recovery team was number one in London, Manchester and Glasgow and the Customs and Excise and Product Liability teams in London were also given a number one ranking. The travel law team based in Birmingham was also top.

And National Managing Partner John Pickering said the latest impressive rankings for the firm showed that its focus on client care, efficient service and expert advice throughout the business was continuing to pay off.

Irwin Mitchell's Manchester office continued its impressive growth in the North West with its Debt Recovery, Commercial Litigation, Restructuring and Insolvency, Employment and Commercial Property teams all moving up the rankings this year.

Its London office also saw five teams – Commercial Litigation, Professional Discipline, Civil and Regulatory Investigations, Personal Injury and Aviation – improve their position in the tables.

Elsewhere, four Birmingham teams - Corporate & Commercial, Commercial Litigation, Insolvency & Corporate and Planning – also saw upward movement after a year of solid growth, while the firm’s Clinical Negligence and Commercial Property teams were rewarded with a step up in Scotland.

Irwin Mitchell's Corporate and Commercial team in Leeds and its Regulatory and Criminal Investigations team in Leeds and Sheffield completed the line up of upwardly mobile rankings in the report as it was published today.
John Pickering said: "This is another strong performance by Irwin Mitchell which reflects the hard work put in recent years by our teams on behalf of the most important people of all – our clients.

"Our focus has always been – and always will be – on delivering quality service and expertise to all of our clients across a broad range of legal services. That has kept us at the forefront of the industry and we believe it will help us meet the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead for all law firms in the coming years.

"The last financial year has not been an easy one for any business and the climate remains tough looking ahead. However, we continue to be in a very strong position and are well placed to continue growing as a business."
