Project To Promote Dog Bite Dangers Welcomed

A leading lawyer who specialises in cases related to dog attacks has welcomed new research into the area.

The University of Lincoln has been working on a project to cut the number of children who are bitten dogs, with a particular focus being on how youngsters can recognise the potential dangers.

Researchers are working on an interactive DVD which will introduce those as young as three to the warning signs they should look out for when approaching the animals.

Commenting on the work, Katrina Elsey of Irwin Mitchell said: “So many cases I have dealt with have shown the serious traumatic impact that dog attacks can have on people of all ages.

“Projects like the creation of this DVD are a positive step forward in raising awareness of dog behaviour and making children have a better understanding of animals they come into contact with.

“I welcome the research and dearly hope that it will reduce the number of dog attacks in the UK.”
