Fatal Work Accident
A building firm will be sentenced on Tuesday for breaching health and safety rules after a workman fell to his death from an aircraft hangar.
Steven Watson, 30, fell from the hangar roof at Bristol International Airport in December 2006 as he worked to dismantle it.
Mr Watson, from Gateshead, was not wearing a safety harness before the fatal 30ft fall and also had alcohol in his system, his inquest heard earlier.
He died from multiple injuries after falling on to a concrete floor through a gap he had cut previously.
His former employer, Rubb Buildings, will be fined at Bristol Crown Court after admitting one breach under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Mr Watson's family are expected to travel to the West Country for the hearing at 10.30am.

Jo Darlington from law firm Irwin Mitchell said: “The circumstances of this tragic accident are not fully known at this stage but it is clear something went badly wrong leading to the death of Mr Watson. Generally, in my practise, I am seeing an increase in workplace deaths in the construction industry – clearly there are lessons to be learned.”
