Food Poisoning Outbreak
A kebab shop in Shepherd’s Bush has closed after 68 people were been taken ill with salmonella poisoning.
20 people have been treated in hospital, with the casualties aged from seven to 64.
The outbreak is being investigated by the North West London Health Protection Unit and Hammersmith and Fulham Council. The owners of Shahi Nan Kabab takeaway closed the shop voluntarily and are co-operating with the investigation.
Salmonella is a potentially fatal disease, although most people do recover without treatment. Symptoms include diarrhoea, abdominal pain, headache, nausea, vomiting and fever.
