Pilot suffers minor injuries
An RAF pilot suffered minor injuries when he ejected from his Harrier jet in Afghanistan.
The pilot ejected from the jet minutes before it came down at Kandahar airfield. It is thought that the undercarriage did not lower as the Harrier came in to land.
The Ministry of Defence issued a statement saying: "The pilot ejected and we believe has only minor injuries. There were no other passengers on board. At present we are not aware of any other casualties."
"Emergency services have been called to the scene and are assessing the damage. The exact cause of the incident is not yet known, however, there is currently no suggestion that the incident was caused by enemy action."
