Associate Solicitor Sue Tyson has joined Irwin Mitchell's Medical Law and Patients Rights team to further enhance the strength of the clinical negligence department at the firm's Manchester office.
Sue, who joins Irwin Mitchell from DWF in Manchester, will be involved in high value claims including serious brain injuries and will practice over a broad range of case types.
Commenting on her appointment, Sue said: "Irwin Mitchell has a fantastic reputation in clinical negligence work and I am very much looking forward to working with the team."
Sue studied Law and Psychology at Keele University, and started her career at the North West Regional Health Authority. She then worked for the Medical Defence Union, before taking time out to have a family.
Sue studied at law school whilst raising her two children and was admitted and qualified as a solicitor in 1994.
For ten years she specialised in defence work for Hempsons in Manchester offering specialist healthcare legal services to NHS bodies. Now, as associate solicitor and team leader at Irwin Mitchell's Quay Street office, Sue will work with claimants in clinical negligence cases.
"To be working on the claimant side at such a well respected firm is going to be very exciting and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead," said Sue.
She will be working in the established team headed by Partner and clinical negligence specialist, Lindsay Wise, who added:
"Sue will bring a new dimension to the clinical negligence services we offer in the North West region from our base in Manchester."
