Death from Asbestosis
A son whose father died from asbestosis is appealing for his former work colleagues to come forward to help inquiries into his death.
William Neil Matheson, from Barnsley, worked at E Green & Son Limited in Wakefield as a mechanical fitter from the 1950s to 1970s. His job was to install and repair parts in boilers. This involved removing lagging from pipe-work and boilers by hand which meant he was often exposed directly to asbestos. He died from asbestosis in November 2007.
His son, Bill Matheson, said: "My father believed he was exposed to asbestos for much of his time at work as a mechanical fitter and we are trying to find any of my father's former work colleagues at E Green & Son Limited in Wakefield who may be able to share information about the particular conditions where he worked."
Legal Executive Keith Hague, from Irwin Mitchell, is representing Bill. He said: "We are appealing to anyone who worked for E Green & Son Limited from the 1950s to 1970s to contact us and help with our enquiries."
Anyone who can help should call Keith Hague on 0870 1500 100 or email keith.hague@irwinmitchell.com.
