Irwin Mitchell celebrates top legal guide rankings

North east law firm

The north east office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell has picked up top rankings in another leading UK legal survey.

Following its top-tier rankings for clinical negligence and personal injury in the Legal 500 in September, the firm has picked up impressive results in the Chambers UK: A Client's Guide to the UK Legal Profession.

The Chambers is an annual guide that independently evaluates and ranks the nation's law firms. It ranked Irwin Mitchell number one in the north east for clinical negligence and number two for personal injury.

The news comes as Irwin Mitchell's north east office, based on Grey Street, celebrates its fifth anniversary in the region this year.

Irwin Mitchell's clinical negligence team was praise for its growing presence in the region as it acquired a major share of the clinical negligence work, receiving praise for its impressive caseload, resilient profile and client care facilities.

The personal injury team was lauded for its 'admirable sensitivity and customer care', particularly in its high-value, complex head and spinal injury claims, and its leading reputation for workplace injury and illness claims, particularly those involving asbestos.

Personal injury partners John Davis and Fran Mayes were described as 'a tower of strength, compassionate and caring' and 'tough, measured and focused' respectively.

Irwin Mitchell's regional managing partner, John Davis, said he was delighted with the ranking.

"It has been an excellent year for our office we are celebrating our fifth anniversary in the north east, received a rehabilitation first award, were involved with the Outstanding Case of the Year at the Proclaim Personal Injury Awards, and have now retained our excellent rankings in both the Legal 500 and the Chambers guide," he said.

"The importance all our staff place on upholding the firm's values putting the client first and earning justice for those who need long-term care and support has been reflected in the comments in Chambers and it shows we are going about things the right way. We now need to ensure we build on these results throughout 2009 and beyond."
