Van Driver Accident
A van driver has seriously injured his face in a collision with a school bus in rural Dorset.
The 22-year-old man, from Swanage, was cut from the wreckage after the van and single decker bus collided at Okeford Fitzpaine near Blandford.
Two children on the bus suffering from minor injuries and shock were collected from the scene by parents.
The Sturminster Newton firm which ran the bus sent another coach to collect the remaining 17 children and take them to Sturminster Newton High School.
Five fire crews from Blandford, Sherborne and Sturminster Newton raced to the scene with heavy duty cutting equipment to free the trapped man.
The driver of the Fiat Ducato white panel van, registered to a company in Wareham, was taken to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester with serious but not life-threatening facial injuries.
A Dorset Police spokesman said he will be transferred to either Poole Hospital or Southampton Hospital "in due course".
