Shool Bus Crash
Police are investigating after a bus full of schoolchildren crashed into a garden wall when the vehicle's brakes failed following a collision with a car.
A number of people were treated at the scene and two - including the driver of the car - were taken to hospital with minor injuries following the incident in the Hilsea area of Portsmouth, Hampshire.
Reports said that the collision had resulted in damage to the air tanks of the number 23 Stagecoach bus, rendering its brakes powerless. The driver was unable to stop and swerved into a garden wall.
The assistant editor of local daily newspaper The News happened to witness the incident as he dropped his child off at nursery. Speaking on the newspaper's website, Graeme Patfield said: "I was driving to work when suddenly all the traffic stopped in front of me.
"I saw the bus and some schoolchildren stood on the side of the road. At first I thought the bus had hit a kid or something."
