The victims were beaten by a group of three men in what police have called an unprovoked attack before the offenders set their dog on one of the men.
A spokeswoman said: "A 20-year old man was walking with two friends when he was assaulted by three men in what appears to an unprovoked attack.
"The three men were all physically assaulted by the group, after the attack the men set their pit bull-type dog onto them.
"The 20-year-old man was bitten by the dog and he received a number of bites to his legs and body.
