Breakthrough Bill for Legal Action Against the Police 04.12.2007 The Government decision the table a bill in Parliament to enable inquests to hear material considered to be sensitive has been welcomed by solicitors at law firm Irwin Mitchell. Ifti Manzoor, an associate at the firm who specialises in legal action against the police said: The passing of this bill will allow the victims; families and legal representatives of people inflicted by inappropriate treatment from the police will have access to all of the evidence collected by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPPC). This is a major breakthrough for many of my clients and I urge the government to push the Bill through as a matter of urgency so that it can be published without delay. Anyone who believes they have suffered unlawful arrest, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution or injuries caused by police, should contact Irwin Mitchell on 0370 1500 100 or visit our Claims Against the Police page for more information.
