Leeds bosses are being given the chance to help grow their businesses out of the corporate failure desert at a meeting run by environmental business guru Adam Woodhall at Irwin Mitchells offices on May 16.

Starting at 5.30 pm for 6 pm, at the law firms base in Queen Street, Leeds, Environmental Leadership for Better Business is the latest meeting of the city's Turnaround Management Association (TMA) branch, whose members are executives and professionals specialising in corporate recovery.

Chris Jones, a business recovery partner at Irwin Mitchell and local regional co-ordinator for TMA, said: Were delighted to be welcoming Adam to our offices. This meeting will provide struggling businesses and those involved with them with more vital tools to help them turn their fortunes around.

Adam has a great ability to focus people on easy, straightforward issues, which can save money and help the environment, through lower resource use, greener company practices and, crucially, lower carbon dioxide emissions.

Mr Woodhall's company coaching and consultancy service, Leeds-based PeopleProfitPlanet, was set up to help businesses gain a clearer understanding of how their environmental behaviour can impact positively not just on the planet, but also their financial bottom lines.

He said: Companies can gain competitive advantage through environmentally aware activities, which is never more crucial than during times of difficulty. Many of our recommendations are simple and easy to adopt, and will save companies money, while improving profitability.

They will also lead to improved morale and greater teamwork among workforces.

Mr Jones said: Scientists predict that if no action is taken to help stop global warming, temperatures will rise by an average of three degrees Celsius across the world.

This could lead to devastating weather conditions, such as tornados, one of which we saw in Leeds last year. These damage premises, raise energy prices and increase insurance premiums. Businesses can no longer ignore the effect they are having on the environment and the effect it is having on them.
