Presentation of Colours to The Yorkshire Regiment

The Duke of York presented The Yorkshire Regiment with four sets of new Regimental Colours on Friday 18th June.
As part of the Colours presentation parade by The Yorkshire Regiment, of which he is Colonel-in-Chief, Prince Andrew gave a speech in which he praised the support soldiers received from their loved ones.
He visited the Imphal Barracks in York to inspect the troops and watch as the old Colours were marched off before the replacements were brought for blessing by the Army chaplain. The Duke then made his way round each unit and individually hoisted the Colours.
Addressing the soldiers, he said it was a "very, very important day" for the regiment.
David Urpeth, National Head of Workplace Injuries who attended the event on behalf of the Military Injuries team said, "It was a great honour to be present at such an important and historic event.
"The day was enjoyable, but also quite moving, given many of the soldiers had recently returned from active service and many of them will return to war zones again.
"We are all proud of what these men and women are doing and the sacrifices they make on our behalf."
