Community Centre Will Be First Of Its Kind

06/02/2012

The Real Estate team at national law firm, Irwin Mitchell, has advised the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme on its plans to transform a near barren industrial estate area into a state-of-the-art community facility.

The proposals for a 5.2 acre site on Penistone Road in Sheffield include the development of a new family-focused community centre, a healthcare centre and pharmacy, numerous classrooms, indoor and outdoor pitches and ancillary accommodation.

A deal has been agreed for the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme to purchase the site from developer City Estates.

Kevin Fox, Associate at the Sheffield office of Irwin Mitchell, said: “This is an exciting development for the area and the city of Sheffield as a whole and we believe the project is the first of its kind on this scale in the country.

“Irwin Mitchell is delighted to extend its long-standing relationship with Sheffield Wednesday to the Community Programme. The scheme is a fantastic example of the hard work and support of the Community Programme for the local community and we are extremely proud to be involved in it.”

Should the planning application be successful, building work is scheduled to commence this summer, with completion of the project set for the spring of 2013.
