Specialist solicitors from Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield office have secured a four figure sum in compensation for a man suffering from noise induced hearing loss.
Our client, Mr X worked for Crouch Mining between 1988 and 2004 as a machine operator. During his employment he was exposed to excessive levels of noise from the tolls that he used and that other colleagues were using around him.
The levels of noise were so loud that he needed to shout in order to communicate with his colleagues. Throughout his employment, no hearing protection was provided to protect him from the levels of noise he worked in.
In later life he has found that his hearing has deteriorated. He struggles to follow conversation and requires his TV and telephone to be turned up to a volume louder than normal.
Irwin Mitchell were instructed to take on his case and a medical expert examined Mr X in regards to his hearing loss.
It was found that his hearing had been damaged significantly during his period of employment and this could have been prevented with the use of ear protection. As a result of the damage caused, a hearing aid will be required in the future.
If you or a loved one has suffered from hearing damage such as acoustic shock, tinnitus, and noise-induced hearing loss caused by conditions at work our solicitors could help you claim compensation. See our Industrial Disease Claims page for more information.
