Compensation Awarded After A Man Slips In A Public House

Irwin Mitchell’s specialist Personal Injury team has helped a man claim compensation after falling over in a public house.

Having stopped for a drink on his way home after work, our client - Liam - slipped and fell on a patch of wet floor that was close to the top of a short flight of stairs. Fortunately, he didn't fall down the stairs, otherwise his injuries could have been far worse. However, he did break a number of bones in his hip and pelvis.

The injury caused Liam a great deal of pain, restricting his movement for several months. Liam’s partner worked in the health service and often worked shifts, which made things more difficult for Liam as he needed help around the home.

Liam’s decision to contact Irwin Mitchell enabled him to receive a high level of quality and care during his recovery process. Irwin Mitchell sought the assistance of a medical expert who was able to reassure Liam that the risks of future problems with arthritis were very low in his case.

Through the hard work and dedication of Liam’s case handler, Mark Aldridge, an out of court settlement was secured and Liam was awarded £11,750 in compensation.

Mark Aldridge commented: “Whilst Liam could rely on his partner and friends for help and assistance, it was important that a level of financial security was recouped from the pub’s insurers so that Liam can now concentrate on getting fit again.”
