Man Exposed To Noise At Work Makes Claim Against Employers

Lawyers at Irwin Mitchell have assisted a fifty year old man to claim compensation from his previous employers for hearing damage.

The man contacted Irwin Mitchell for advice after he began to find it difficult to follow conversations and experienced a persistent buzzing in his ears.

Our client worked as a machine operator at Princes Foundry and RMI, both in the Birmingham area, from the 1960s through to the 1980s. During his employment he was exposed to loud noise but he was never provided with any personal protective equipment such as ear plugs or ear muffs.

Lawyers representing the client instructed a medical expert to provide a report regarding the hearing loss. The report concluded that our client’s hearing had been damaged significantly during his period employment and that this could have been prevented had he been given ear protection.

The case settled in the client’s favour and he received £2700 in compensation.
