Our client was aged 74 and worked for a construction company where he was a ground worker.
He is from Skelmersdale but based in Bootle and undertook tasks such as excavation, laying drains and preparation work for road construction and renovation. He was employed by the Defendant for 30 years however was only provided with hearing protection for the last 5 years. He had been exposed to noise before this was available from Stihl saws, jack hammers, wackers and excavators.
He agreed a 4 figure sum for his reduced hearing and tinnitus.
Our client advises that his family had been telling him he did not hear what they were saying and he found himself turning the TV up more frequently. He also noticed a ringing in his ears.
Upon seeking medical advice he realised it could be related to his past work in noise.
