Compensation Obtained For Sufferer Of 14ft Fall At Work

Workplace injury lawyers at Irwin Mitchell have assisted a man from Mansfield to obtain compensation following an accident at work when he fell around 14 feet through an open hatch.

Our client was asked to carry out a job in a particular shed but the shed had no lights to illuminate it. He stepped in to a room off the gantry to find a light switch when suddenly he fell down the open hatch onto some air ducts underneath the shed.

Our client suffered a soft tissue injury to his back and was admitted to hospital for observation.  He had restricted mobility for some months after the accident.

The client came to Irwin Mitchell for advice some two years post accident. Irwin Mitchell felt that the case had good prospects and wrote to the defendants alleging negligence and breach of statutory duty. Liability was admitted and the case was settled just 5 months later with the client's employer making an award of compensation.
