Man Exposed To Noise At Work Receives Compensation For Hearing Loss

Irwin Mitchell assisted a man to claim compensation after suffering tinnitus and hearing loss.

The client, a 72 year old man from Burnley, had worked at Tenneco Walker and Philips Components, both industrial factories in the Burnley area.

At Tenneco Walker, he worked as a welder, producing exhaust pipes for cars. He recalls that it was so noisy; he and his colleagues working close by would have to communicate with hand signals.

At Philips Components; he was employed as a television glass inspector which saw him work amongst the press machines and cutting machines on the factory floor.

Despite the high levels of noise in both these jobs, he was never given any kind of hearing protection. As a result, he developed significant hearing loss and also suffered tinnitus which has become so severe it keeps him awake at night.

Irwin Mitchell were able to secure him compensation in the sum £8500 for his hearing loss and  the suffering caused by tinnitus.

If you or a loved one has suffered from hearing damage such as acoustic shock, tinnitus, and noise-induced hearing loss caused by conditions at work our solicitors could help you claim compensation. See our Industrial Disease Claims page for more information.
