A woman has received compensation after she damaged her foot in a slipping accident at work.
Mrs X was in a school dinner hall and sustained an injury to her foot when she slipped on some dinner hall debris and hit her foot on a stack of chairs.
She received hospital treatment and was off work for a number of months returning initially on light duties. She continues to suffer some aching in the foot but is able to do most activities without pain.
The case was settled out of court by Lisa Fairclough of Irwin Mitchell's specialist Work Accidents Team. She said: "The case emphasises the importance of a good cleaning regime within the school premises.
"The accident could easily have been prevented if the debris had been cleared away as it should have been."
