Louise Scott, a solicitor in our Birmingham office recently recovered £5,000 for a Wolverhampton man exposed to excessive noise whilst employed at a local Brewery.
Hearing protection was not provided until 1990 when earplugs were handed out; far too late for our client who, about 12 months ago started to notice that he was missing things in conversation and having to constantly ask people to repeat themselves.
Mr S said “I have trouble talking on the telephone and I have difficulty in conversation particularly if there is a large group of people or background noise. I often find that I am asking people to repeat themselves a lot. I also get a ringing or buzzing sound in my ears, this noise is not there all of the time, but when it is I struggle to concentrate and hear.”
After a hearing test Mr S was informed by the audiologist that his hearing was damaged and that it was due to exposure to noise at work.
If you or a loved one has suffered from hearing damage such as acoustic shock, tinnitus, and noise-induced hearing loss caused by conditions at work our solicitors could help you claim compensation. See our Industrial Disease Claims page for more information.
