A man has received £3,000 compensation after being injured in a workplace accident.
Our client worked in the forging department of a large steelworks factory at the time of the accident.
He sustained a fractured big toe and crushing injury to his adjacent toe when a crane bucket was lowered onto his foot by his colleague who was operating the crane.
It was alleged that the crane was faulty and that there was a delay in the crane reacting to commands.
Primary liability was admitted by the insurers for our client's employer.
His claim was settled with help from Louise Morgan of Irwin Mitchell's Workplace Accidents team in Sheffield.
She said, "It is important that employees ensure that all equipment is maintained in efficient working order as failure to do so can lead to employees sustaining injuries."
