Compensation for Slipping Accident in Shop

Compensation for Slipping Accident in Shop

A Sheffield woman has received £3,250 in compensation after suffering injury after slipping in a Home & Leisure shop.

Our client suffered a probable fracture of her rib as a result of the incident, causing typical sharp pain and discomfort.

On the 24 March 2007 our client was visiting The Range as a customer. As our client was walking down an aisle within the store, she slipped with both feet out in front of her and landed heavily on her right hand side. The slip was caused by a slippery white substance that had been left on the shop floor.

A compensation claim was brought by Katrina Elsey of Irwin Mitchell's Public Liability Team in Sheffield against The Range for failing to regularly inspect the aisles of the store. If this had been carried out, the slippery substance would have been detected and removed.

Liability was admitted and a medical report was obtained confirming the extent of our client’s injuries.

An out of court settlement was agreed in March 2008.
