Our Dispute Resolution team advises employers, contractors and professional consultants on any disputes which arise out of construction projects including:

• Claims by employers for defective works or liquidated damages for late completion of works;
• Claims against professional consultants for negligent design or over-certification; and
• Claims by contractors and professional consultants for unpaid fees.

Our team helps clients to understand the obligations under tailored or standard form contracts. Also, our lawyers provide advice and representation in relation to court proceedings, arbitration, adjudication or mediation.  

Recent Construction Disputes Cases

• Acting for a sub-contractor in a claim for unpaid fees where the contractor was alleging defective work;
• Acting for the employer in a claim against a specialist contractor whose incorrect advice led to remedial works being required, causing significant losses and delay to the development;
• Acting for an employer in a claim against its architect where it had over-certified the value of works that had been completed before a contractor went into liquidation.
