Deafness from Work Leads to £9000 Compensation
Deafness from work case
We recently won a case for a gentleman who had suffered deafness from work conditions. This is a common problem for people who work in noisy surroundings over long periods of time.
Our client worked in telephone exchanges for British Telecom and was exposed to excessive noise from the telephone exchanges, without ear protection, between 1968-1979.
The claim settled without admission of liability before court proceedings took place. £9000 compensation was received as a result of our claimant's deafness from work.
Mark Allen, solicitor who represented our client, said, "I am pleased that my client has been compensated for his hearing loss by his former employer, British Telecom. He was not given ear protection until it was too late and the damage had been done”.
