Workplace Injury caused by Defective Equipment

Workplace injury compensation case

A man has received £4,750 compensation after suffering a workplace injury.

Mr X  was employed as a concrete maker and driver when he suffered the injury.

Mr X was washing a cement mixer with a power hose which had a faulty hand lever. This meant the power of the water running through the hose could not be controlled.   As he was undertaking the washout of his concrete making wagon the change in pressure of water threw him off balance causing his knee to twist and resulting in soft tissue injury.

The settlement was achieved with help from Lynne Parker of Irwin Mitchell’s Workplace Injuries team.

She said, “This case highlights the importance of providing and maintaining proper work equipment.

"Had this been done Mr X’s accident would not have occurred.”
