Woman Receives Compensation for Fall in Public Place
Injured After a Fall
30/06/2008
A woman has received £15,000 compensation after suffering painful injuries in a fall in a public place.
Mrs A sustained a fractured ankle as a result of an accident that occurred in the grounds of a church.
She was descending a flight of stairs which, despite a drop to one side, had no hand rail. She caught the edge of a step and fell awkwardly attempting to avoid falling down the unprotected drop.
The case was settled by Louise Morgan of Irwin Mitchell's specialist Public Liability Team who deal with all claims arising from accidents in public places.
She said, "Those responsible for places visited by members of the public need to ensure that their premises are kept in a reasonably safe condition to reduce or remove the risk of accidents occurring."
