Successful Vibration White Finger Compensation Case
Vibration white finger compensation for Ground Worker
Our client was employed as a Ground Worker for Sheffield City Council from 1974 to 1988, for South Yorkshire Buildings and Civil Engineers from 1994 to 2002 and for South Yorkshire Tarmacadam Contractors from 2002 to the present day.
His vibration white finger was caused by excessive levels of vibration from different machinery (including jigger picks, compressed air guns, whacker plates, Stihl saws, concrete breakers and rollers) left him with symptoms of whiteness brought on by cold weather, as well as tingling, numbness and a lack of dexterity and grip strength.
The claim settled without the need for issuing Court proceedings against any of the defendants. The claim was settled within 12 months.
Sheffield City Council eventually paid £7,450, with the other defendants making a combined offer of £5,028, bringing the total vibration white finger compensation to £12,478.
Nick Woods, a vibration white finger solicitor at Irwin Mitchell, says: "I am pleased that we have managed to reach a successful conclusion to our client’s claim. I am especially pleased that we have been able to successfully conclude the claim against Sheffield City Council, given that my client’s exposure with them ceased over 20 years ago. I was happy to see that my client was delighted with the result of the claim. He was not expecting as much as what was offered by the defendants, so the offer of settlement came as a pleasant surprise."
