Compensation after Woman Tripped at Work

Employee tripped at work due to raised mat

Ms X was working at a supermarket when she tripped over a rubber mat, causing grazing and bruising. Mrs X also injured both wrists and had to see a physiotherapist and acupuncturist to try and relieve the pain.

The claim was settled by Lisa Fairclough of Irwin Mitchell’s Accidents at Work team in Sheffield.

She said, “This case highlights how easy it is for some accidents to be prevented.

“All that was required here was to ensure the rubber mat was well maintained and laid flat to the floor.  Had this happened Ms X would not have tripped and these painful injuries would have been avoided.”

If you have tripped at work and suffered a similar injury, and you believe your employer is at fault, you may be entitled to claim compensation. Fill in our online claims form for a free case assessment.
