Six Figure Mesothelioma Compensation for Family

Asbestos exposure caused mesothelioma

The family of a Coventry man, who died from an asbestos-related disease, has received a six figure sum in compensation.

Mr X was diagnosed with mesothelioma in March 2006, aged just 57, and tragically died in June 2007. Mesothelioma is a terminal cancer of the lining of the lung caused by exposure to asbestos.

Mr X worked for Jaguar Cars Limited for the majority of his working life assisting fitters and millwrights on repair and maintenance jobs throughout the factory premises in Browns Lane, Birmingham. The pipework throughout the factory was lagged with asbestos and the boiler house contained lagged boilers.

Mr X was exposed to vast amounts of asbestos dust in the course of his employment. Mr X was not warned of the dangers of using asbestos materials and he was not provided with any protection. He believed this to be the main source of his asbestos exposure.

Court proceedings were commenced against the Jaguar Cars Limited. Judgment was entered in Mr X’s favour shortly thereafter and an early interim payment of £47,000 was secured.

The claim was settled out of Court 2 days before the final hearing for a six figure sum.
