Accident at Work

02/05/2008

A man has received £2700 in compensation after being injured in an accident at work.

Mr H worked as a scaffolder. He sustained severe bruising to his chest when a colleague knocked over a scaffolding pole which struck Mr H on his back and on the side of his chest and head.

Due to the accident Mr H suffered with pains in his chest wall which were made worse by movement, coughing and sneezing.

Mr H required 3 weeks off work although it took him 6 weeks to fully recover from his symptoms.

His claim was settled with help from Louise Morgan of Irwin Mitchell's Accidents at work Team in Sheffield.

She said, "It is important that employers take effective steps to prevent their employees being struck by falling objects."
