£10,000 Compensation for Police Misconduct

Police misconduct - excessive use of force

Mr A attended a football match in Grimsby and left after 20 minutes as his team were losing 2 nil.

He and a friend went to a nearby pub but it was closed. They walked back in the direction of the football club. Mr A’s route back took him past a police van. Without warning, a police dog leapt forward and bit his forearm.  He was then kicked and punched by a police officer before being arrested.  He was also struck with a police baton and charged with a public order offence.

Mr A made a successful claim against Humberside Police complaining of police misconduct in the form of false imprisonment, assault and prosecution.

The compensation claim was settled out of court for £10,000

Have you been affected by police misconduct?

We have many years’ experience in taking action against the police, with many of our clients being involved in high profile legal challenges to their handling by the police and authorities. They are often protestors, using their right to peaceful protest when they get caught up in the affray of police intervention. Alternatively, they may be wrongfully arrested with very little knowledge of the charges being put to them.
