Compensation for Noise Induced Hearing Loss
Noise induced hearing loss caused by work conditions
The claimant was employed as a Crane/Fork Lift truck Driver with West Coast Steve Doring Company. His job was to load and unload ships on the docks in Liverpool.
As a result of no hearing protection, he suffered noise induced hearing loss as a result to exposure to excessive noise at work.
A claim was intimated against the defendant. Supportive medical evidence was obtained and the claim was settled prior to commencement of Court proceedings.
Lee Carnall, specialist hearing loss solicitor, stated: "This is another example of a persons hearing being seriously damaged due to the effect of working in excessive levels of noise. Employers should make every effort to provide their employees with hearing protection to safeguard against such damage being caused".

Ear protection was supplied in the late 1980’s but by that time the damage had already been done. The client was exposed to noise from grinders, hammers, chisels and shotblasting.
The claim was settled without admission of liability after issue of court proceedings.
Mark Allen, industrial solicitor, commented: "I am pleased that my client has been compensated for his hearing loss by his former employer.” My client was not given ear protection until he had been exposed to loud noise for many years and by that time the damage had already been done. As a result of his noise induced deafness he will have to use a hearing aid several years earlier than he would have done in any event".
