Man Receives Maximum Compensation From Criminal Injuries Scheme After Serious Assault
Assault Compensation
01/07/2008
A man who suffered serious injuries in an assault has been awarded the maximum available compensation under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) scheme.
As no-one was charged following the assault on Mr X in 2004, which left him unable to work, a claim was started under the CICA scheme by Sarah Brumpton of Irwin Mitchell’s specialist CICA Claims Team, based in Leeds.
The maximum level of £500,000 compensation was awarded in April 2008.
Sarah said, "This is a tragic case where a family man, who previously was the life and soul of the party, changed completely as a result of the attack.
"This award has enabled him to buy a new, specially adapted home and to pay for additional care."
