Leeds Woman Receives Compensation After Accident at Work

A Leeds based woman has received £16,000 compensation after she was injured in an accident at work.

Ms X worked at a call centre when the accident happened in June 2005. She was walking along a corridor in the office when she slipped on cleaning materials that had been left on the floor.

Ms X suffered injuries to her back and required three months off work.

Her claim was settled in September 2008 by Cathryn Godfrey of Irwin Mitchell’s specialist Accidents at Work Team based in Leeds.

She said, "Employers should make every reasonable effort to ensure the safety of their employees and to minimise the risk of accidents happening

"The cleaning materials in this case were an unnecessary hazard which could easily have been removed. Had this been done, then Ms X would not have been injured."
