Man Injured in Hit and Run Receives Compensation From Untraced Drivers Scheme

Hit and run compensation case

A man who was injured in a hit and run road traffic accident has received £3,000 compensation from a scheme set-up for victims of untraced drivers.

Mr X was stationary in his vehicle when he was struck by a car that had been shunted by another car in April 2005.

The driver of the vehicle responsible for the initial collision drove away from the scene of the accident leaving Mr X and the other driver, who had collided with him but who was not to blame for the accident, with injuries.

As the driver responsible could not be traced, a successful  application was made to the Motor Insurers Bureau under the terms of the Untraced Driver Agreement, by Nicola Meese of Irwin Mitchell’s specialist Road Traffic Accident Team.
