Our specialist e-coli solicitors understand the issues and will be able to advise you quickly whether you have a good case.

What are the symptoms from an e-coli infection?

E-coli is often associated with food poisoning on foreign holidays or trips abroad, but sadly the instance of e-coli poisoning at home is growing too. E-coli symptoms typically occur 5-6 days after contact and include severe bloody diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain and flu-like symptoms, which can persist for as long as five to ten days. Long-term associated illness from e-coli - particularly in vulnerable people such as the old or very young - include kidney damage, paralyisis, or blindness. In the most extreme cases, e-coli poisoning can lead to death.

What is e-coli?

E-coli is a bacterial infection that comes from a particular strain of Escherichia coli (the 0157 strain) and is caused in most cases by poor hygiene in food preparation. Typical e-coli breeding areas are poorly cooked meat and unpasteurised milk, but e-coli can be contracted by any means of poor hygiene that allows it to transmit orally or faecally.
