Compensation For Sheffield Woman In Claim Against The Council
Accident in a Public Place
11/06/2008
A Sheffield woman has received compensation in a claim against the council after suffering injury in an accident in a public place.
In August 2006, Ms X was walking in Sheffield when she tripped in a pothole and fell to the ground, injuring her left foot.
The claim proceeded against the council alleging that they had failed to repair and maintain the highway which was dangerous to pedestrians crossing the road.
The claim was settled in May 2008 by Katrina Elsey of Irwin Mitchell's specialist Public Liability team who deal with all forms of accidents in public places including; slips, trips and falls, dog bites and occupiers liability.
She said, "Had a proper inspection taken place of the road then the pothole would have been identified and remedied prior to Ms X's accident."
