Compensation for man after accident at work

Accident at work

03/09/2008

A man has received £2,600 compensation after he was injured in an accident at work.

Mr X was working via an agency at a waste processing company as a picker. On the day of his accident he was sweeping the floor when he was hit and knocked over by a JCB. He sustained injuries to his back.

The claim was settled against the company he was working at by Lisa Fairclough of Irwin Mitchell's specialist Accidents at Work Team.

She said, "It is for companies operating in environments where workers and traffic may mix to consider the dangers this can cause. Appropriate traffic routes accommodating both pedestrians and vehicles should be set and adhered to, to minimise the risk of accidents.

"Had this simple measure been put in place, Mr X's accident could and would have been avoided."
