Elderly Woman Receives Compensation following Accident at Supermarket
Compensation for accident at supermarket
An 88 year old woman has received £34,000 compensation after being injured in an accident at her local supermarket.
In 2004, Ms X was riding her mobility scooter down a path leading to a car park at her local supermarket when a wheel caught in a pothole causing the scooter to overturn and Ms X was thrown out.
As a result of the accident Ms X suffered a broken hip which required surgery. The injuries have left her with permanent mobility difficulties and she now requires help and assistance from her family.
The supermarket accepted liability for the accident at an early stage. However, due to the severity of Ms X’s injuries, settlement of the case had to be delayed.
The case was settled by Helen Price of Irwin Mitchell’s Public Liability Team in January 2008.
