Accident at Work - Fall Down Stairs

Loose tile cause of accident at work

When working for the Social Services department at Sheffield City Council in 2003, Mrs Mepham fell down 17 stairs, suffering injuries to her right shoulder.

Mrs Mepham’s heel caught on a loose carpet tile at the top of the stairs causing her to fall all the way down. Mrs Mepham had regular physiotherapy treatment following the accident, but by early 2006 she was told that surgery would be required on the shoulder. This was performed in September 2006.

A claim was proceeded against Sheffield City Council who settled out of court for the sum of £15,000.
