Irwin Mitchell Retains Top Spot in the Legal Charts
Manchester law firm tops legal 500 rankings
10/09/2008
Irwin Mitchell’s Manchester office has helped cement the firm’s national position of excellence by being rated as number one for both personal injury (claimant) and clinical negligence (claimant) by independent publication, the Legal 500.
Both departments retained their number one rankings from last year.
The Personal Injury team led by managing partner Grahame Codd is described as having a stellar reputation in neurotrauma, asbestos-related disease and work place accidents and illness.
The publication makes particular reference to the work of personal injury partner Jonathan Betts who is described as ‘very astute and personable’. Jonathan specialises in traumatic personal injury cases.
The Clinical Negligence team headed by Lindsay Wise, regularly settles claims in excess of £1million and has developed considerable expertise in neo-natal death-related issues, complex brain injuries and catastrophic injury claims.
Lindsey is described by the publication as somebody who ‘explains things well’, and a recent case which she settled for £6.8million for an 18-year-old with athetoid spastic quadriplegia cerebal palsy and preserved intelligence is referenced.
The firm’s private client, finance and crime and fraud work have made it into the ranking for the first year – a reflection of the firm’s extended breadth of service offering from its city centre base.
Grahame Codd, Manchester’s managing partner said: "We are delighted with the firm’s position at the top of these prestigious lists. It is testament to the hard work of our staff, and underlines the success and reputation of the firm across the board".
He continues: “We only established ourselves in the region in 2005 and the business continues to grow year on year. We are very committed to providing a first class range of legal services for our clients in the north-west.”
