Law firm curries favour with West Yorkshire Businesses at Bollywood extravaganza

Client Bollywood event

17/10/2006

More than 200 guests of national law firm Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office spiced up their lives at a Bollywood themed evening in The Oracle for its annual client party.

Guests attending the event, which included live music by a tabla and sitah duo and DJ from the sub-continent, dined on food including Indian canapés and Cobra beer, imported especially for the event.

Kevin Cunningham, head of the corporate team at Irwin Mitchell, said: “We were delighted the theme was such a spectacular hit, with so many clients and contacts attending and joining in the fun.

“Yorkshire has won the bid to host the eighth International Indian Film Academy Awards in 2007 and we decided our annual client party would provide the ideal opportunity to give regional businesses an advance taste of India, as well as thanking them for their fantastic support during the last 12 months.”

The so-called Bollywood Oscars will be held in June at venues in Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, York and Hull. Yorkshire beat off competition from New York, Rome, Barcelona, Marrakech, Melbourne and Hong Kong to become the first region, rather than city, to stage the festival.

The event is expected to bring in £9.5million from tourist and event support opportunities, for the Yorkshire economy.
