Heather Mills’ separation from her legal team has come as no surprise to leading divorce lawyer Kevin Harris-James who says that Ms Mill’s specific needs require the increasingly specialised skills of a divorce lawyer and not a litigator.

"It’s a case of 'well he would say that wouldn't he' but the softer skill set needed to deal with divorces goes beyond just being a good lawyer, especially in cases of such a high profile nature” Explained Mr Harris-James

It was revealed today that Heather Mills was no longer being represented by law firm Mishcon de Reya. Sir Anthony Julius, had been lined up to represent her but Mr Harris James says that in his opinion this was a strange choice.

"Whilst one of the finest lawyers in the country, Sir Anthony is a litigator and in my opinion the vulnerable nature of divorce requires a specialist."

"It is obvious that Ms Mills feels vulnerable and given her more famous other half, and his financial power, it is apparent that she is finding it increasingly difficult to feel she is being heard with such media attention on this painful process in both their lives."

Kevin Harris-James is part of Irwin Mitchell’s family law team whose clients include some of the more famous and successful divorcees in the country.

"No matter how famous someone is they still require what I call the TLC we give as specialists. Being a divorce lawyer means a skill set which goes beyond just legal competence and requires the ability to represent people when they are at their most vulnerable."
