19/02/2008
Howard Culley has been re-elected unopposed as Managing Partner of National Law Firm of the Year* Irwin Mitchell, making him the longest serving Managing Partner of any top 25 law firm in the UK.
Since he was first elected in 1988, Howard has overseen the firm’s turnover increase from £2.8m in that year to a forecast £150m in gross fees for the current financial year, an increase of over 5000% in 20 years.
It is with stability at the very top of the organisation, with the long serving Michael Napier who has been the Senior Partner of the firm for 25 years, which has contributed to the firm’s consistent strategic for growth in the legal sector.
The firm has expanded rapidly from its original operation in Sheffield. It now has offices throughout the UK but has retained strong roots in Yorkshire where it has 1350 employees and is the largest firm in the county.
In April 2007 Irwin Mitchell enhanced its position as the UK’s leading provider of commoditised legal services following its merger with Scottish law firm Golds and remains at the forefront of the debate into the reforms to the legal industry prompted through the Legal Services Act.
The firm also maintains its market leading reputation in the field of Personal Injury and a rapidly growing range of advisory and specialist litigation services to the business community.
Mr Culley said: "It is both an honour and a challenge to continue as Managing Partner especially at a time when the industry is changing so rapidly. The continued success of Irwin Mitchell is down to the quality of all the staff who have contributed over many years to the success of the firm and to clear strategic direction."
