Local Law Firm Supports City Farm
Charity of the Year Award
Sheffield based charity Heeley City Farm has received an extra boost this year as it was voted the Irwin Mitchell Charity Foundation’s charity of the year by the firm’s staff.
The farm, which plays host to a number of animals including rare Cuni-Cuni pigs, Soay sheep, prize winning goats and Molly the Irish moiled cow, is also a centre point for a number of educational and environmental schemes providing vital services to the entire city.
The money received throughout the year from staff at Irwin Mitchell will help to fund a number of activities including special needs projects, the teaching of basic skills, nutritional education and health projects for the elderly and youngsters alike.
In addition, it will help towards the farm’s commitment to environmental projects such as combating fuel poverty and schemes looking at renewable energy and reducing energy waste.
Adrian Budgen said: “Having lived in the city for 18 years, I was aware of the very good work done by HCF but it wasn’t until I visited the farm, earlier this year, that I realised what an extraordinary and wonderful place it is. I am now telling all my family, friends and colleagues about it!
“On one very memorable visit I was even lucky enough to meet and hold a new born lamb, now named Mitch in our honour!”
Heeley City Farm's Fundraising Coordinator Rhian Harding said: “We are very grateful to the staff of Irwin Mitchell and to the Irwin Mitchell Charity Foundation for nominating Heeley City Farm as their Charity of the Year.
“Heeley City Farm has been established in Sheffield for almost 30 years but we are reliant on fundraising, local support and volunteers to continue and develop our projects across the city.
“Funds raised by staff at Irwin Mitchell will be invested in improvements to the site and projects supporting young people, adults with leaning difficulties and environmental education."
The Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation (IMCF) is an independent, registered charity and was set up in February 1997 by the partners and staff at the firm. The IMCF aims to help a wide range of charities to represent the views of IM staff across the firm as a whole.
