Inheritance & inheritance tax in Spain
Spanish Inheritance legal advice
Administering someone’s estate after they die and trying to ensure that their wishes are adhered to is often complicated, stressful and full of issues.
The process involved in delivering effective and efficient inheritance advice requires a lot of skill and communication, particularly where documentation is required in two or more jurisdictions, Spain and the UK. It is paramount that the representatives for the client in each jurisdiction understand and share the same objectives – getting the best possible result for you. Because we are able to provide advice under both jurisdictions, this issue of confusion and risk of acting at cross purposes doesn’t exist.
Inheritance tax in the UK is compulsory on anyone who inherits a property even if the property belonged to their spouse or partner and it is applied at the same rate.
In Spain however, a spouse or partner may not need to pay inheritance tax on all of the deceased possessions and that rate of taxation varies dependent upon the relationship.
At these sad and stressful times, Irwin Mitchell Abogados will provide a sympathetic and understanding ear. We will listen to your needs and situation as well as establishing the wishes of the deceased. Ensuring that the wishes of the deceased are adhered to as much as possible is one of our top priorities as well as making sure that your wishes and needs are fairly represented.
