Education litigation advice
Education law solicitors
Much of our education work is for school pupils, or for parents and guardians on behalf of children at school or in nursery. They approach us for all sorts of reasons, all coming back to the fact that they or their child has been denied the right to education, or their access to education has been somehow restricted. They may have special educational needs which are not being met. They may be appealing against an exclusion, or they may have been denied admission to a school or nursery. We will represent the parents with appeal to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal.
We also represent teachers and schools should they need help to respond to regulatory investigations, or reports.
We’re experts in education litigation
We’re noted in the Legal 500 and Chambers UK for our litigation work. Education litigation requires not only a carefully honed approach to litigious action, but also a comprehensive understanding of education and the systems it works within. We are members of the Education Law Association and consider an up to the moment understanding of the current education climate key to our business. In the face of constantly shifting education reform, this knowledge is invaluable.
We’re decisive in our litigious work, doing all that we can to resolve matters outside of court, but not shying away from the need for swift, certain action when matters escalate to this point.
Disciplinary proceedings against professionals
In many cases we can secure Legal Aid to assist in covering the costs of a case for parents or pupils, or you may even find that you have an insurance policy that covers you for any legal expenses.
Individual teachers and schools are also entitled to respond to the judgments of educational regulatory bodies, or other parties, such as the media with the help of a specialist litigation team. We also work with teachers facing professional disciplinary action brought by their employers or the General Teaching Council. Drawing on the specialist skills within the firm, we’ll provide practical and friendly support.
